In response to some feedback from the story ninja team I introduce the story card slider. One of the main issues was not having enough images especially on pages with larger blocks of story text. While there were other points of feedback in this video, this update only addresses the issues of long blocks of text without images.
Feedback from story ninja’s team
Response to feedback: The story card slider
My solution to this issue is the story card slider. It will allow us to break up longer bits of story text into more consumable blocks of text as well as show a picture.
The story card slider will also be used with the maze mini game to visualize the progression of a dynamic story. When you interact with creatures and items in the mini game the mini game will pause and then scroll up to the deck. A new story card will be visible in the deck. This card may explain that the chest you interacted with has gold in it and show a picture of the loot. It may tell you how a hobgoblin just fell from the ceiling landing in front of you. The story card will progress the story in some way.
In order to resume the mini game you will have to clear what ever challenges or obstacles the story may have presented. Once cleared, or if there was no new obstacle or challenge the player will be prompted to resume the mini game. An animation on the pause button will indicate that if you click the maze the mini game will resume.
To clear obstacles you will be presented with options around the maze. Options like open chest and plunder the loot. Or maybe an option to punch the hobgoblin in the face. Or even use a gear item to attack, like attack with sword. Options will appear around the mini game just like they do throughout the rest of the interactive story.
The story card slider looks like a custom component on the front end but it is not.The story card slider uses some CSS and JavaScript to recycling a built in component in squarespace. This makes content editing in the back end much more user friendly. Otherwise, making simple text edits to the story would be through the same process as editing custom component code.
