Episode 1 : Howard - Egress
Howard understood now why he looked so tired. He reached forward and put his hand on Toms shoulder and said, "In life we strive to bring good things to those around us, but some things are out of our hands. You did what you could."
The pump mad a loud clunk noise as it stopped fueling. Tom walked back to the pump and placed it back on its receiver. Tom looked back at him with appreciation and nodded.
"I'll see you in class Mr. Fisher," Howard said to Tom as he took his receipt.
"Yeah, I guess you will Professor Campbell," Tom replied as he gave a farewell gesture and stepped into his car.
Howard turned to his car happy to be alive, happy that his children were alive. Looking in the back as he approached the driver door he saw little Ana and Jeremy. They were everything to him. He knew that he was the man he was because of them. Without them he had no identity, no purpose. As he opened the door and sat down, he realized how lucky he was to have his children.
As he looked up he saw Nancy burst out of the station in a hurry, she looked terrified. He was curious why she was freaked out. Nancy opened the door and sat down with an urgent look. He asked, "Is everything OK honey?" She looked at him and said "Yea. Lets just get out of here, OK?" He didn't understand, but he figured it didn’t matter. Pressing the gas pedal he drove the car forward, leaving the gas station behind.
